The "Stars" of Hilltop have chalked-up many academic successes and have taken top prize in national competitions ever since the founding of the school in 1997. To highlights some of our achievements in our first 20 years:

  • In 2004 Master Michael Yaw Agyekumhene of Class 5 won a FIRST PRIZE National Drawing Competition for basic school students. He is currently a medical student in Ukraine.

 

  • In September 2008, Master Aquila Adanuvo won FIRST PRIZE National Spelling B Competition organized in Accra with Akua Akomea ranking fourth. Akua Akomea graduated as top student of the graduation Class of 2009 and was closely followed by Acquila Adanuvo  as the second best student. Both of Akua and Aquila went on to graduate with distinction from their respective Senior High Schools. In 2012 Acquila entered Ghana Medical School, Legon while Akua enrolled in KNUST Medical School, Kumasi.

 

  • In November 2010 our BS6 trio of Aaron Dutt, Maame Esi Beduwaa Baidoo and Akoto Afriyie Adarkwa won FIRST PRIZE National Brain Box Competition in Accra.

 

  • In May 2014, Ms Abora Sika Owusu in Year 8 was adjudged MOST PROMISING WRITER and won 2nd place in the National Essay Competition.

 

  • Our pioneer class of 23 students, the Class of 2006, set a record as the "Best BECE Graduating Class" in the City of Kumasi with a mean aggregate of 6.21.

 

  • Hilltop received a Platinum Shield award for placing 5th Nationwide with four of our graduands making  the top 100 (one percentile) of the 2003 BECE candidates in Ghana. The accolade of PLATINUM LEAGUE SCHOOL by Ayekoo Foundation was the result of this excellent achievement.

 

Our extra-curricular achievements have also been noteworthy:

 

  • In June 2013, our Star Cadet Corp won FIRST PRIZE Quiz Competition organized for Basic School Cadet Corps in Kumasi. The award winning Star Cadet Corp has consistently been among the top performing finalists in the Ashanti Region Cadet Drill competitions.

 

  • The Star Girl Guides won 3rd PLACE in Independent Parade of 2005 and 2008. Since its formation in 2005, The Star Band has consistently been among the Best Top Performers in annual Regional Basic School Band Completions. The Star Cultural Troupe has won many local accolades since its formation 12 years ago.
